Granville Receives "A" on Ohio Report Card

The State Board of Education recently recognized only 28 districts and just 310 school buildings in all of Ohio for earning an overall grade of “A” on the 2017-2018 Ohio School Report Cards. All four Granville Schools buildings (Elementary, Intermediate, Middle and High Schools) and the Granville Exempted School District were all named to this select group.  In addition, only 57 school buildings received the “All A” Award for earning straight A’s on their report card, and Granville Intermediate School was one of those recipients!

The State Board of Education also named 70 districts and 226 school buildings to receive the Momentum Award for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year.  Granville Intermediate School, Middle School, High School and the Granville Exempted Village School District all received this honor this year.  Granville Elementary is not eligible for the award due as student growth data is only calculated for grades 4 – 12 by the State.  GIS, GHS and the District have received the Momentum award every year it has been awarded, starting with the 2015-16 school year.

“Every day, Ohio’s schools do the challenging but rewarding work of educating our students and building the future of our state,” said State Board of Education President Tess Elshoff. “The State Board of Education is proud to recognize these students, teachers, administrators and parents for their accomplishments.”  Click here for complete lists of districts and school buildings that received the Overall A Award, All A Award or Momentum Award.

“The Granville Board of Education and the Granville Schools staff and administration would like to share this honor with the entire community,” stated Jeff Brown, Granville Schools Superintendent.  “Our children have amazing opportunities because of the support the community provides, the individual contributions of each staff member, and value each student has for their education.  It takes all three of these components to have successful educational outcomes, and we are thankful we have all of them right here in Granville!”
