GHS Teacher Jim Reding Honored with National Award

GHS Environmental Science teacher Jim Reding will be honored as K-12 Educator of the Year next month by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) during the national conference in Madison, WI. Congratulations, Jim!

In one of the letter supporting Jim’s nomination, GHS Principal Matt Durst wrote, “Jim…has made a habit of moving students from his classroom to the “real world” to investigate, research and solve real world problems. He embraces the ‘what if’ questions and scenarios posed by his students and allows them time and space to answer them.’” His open-minded response to students’ ideas is, “Why not? Let’s investigate!” The letter concludes, “His passion and dedication translate into action.”

The K–12 Educator of the Year Award is presented to an individual who is recognized for their exemplary efforts in promoting environmental education in classroom settings, as well as engaging community organizations to create a more sustainable future. Denise Brooks of the Licking Soil & Water Conservation district submitted the nomination.
