GMS Teacher Receives Leaders for Learning Award

GMS teacher Dave Stewart received the Licking County Foundation's Leaders for Learning Award. He teaches seventh grade social studies and has been teaching for 29 years.

Dave’s nomination said, “Mr. Stewart exemplifies what it means to be a professional educator while striking the perfect balance of humor, respect and structure to effectively meet the learning needs of adolescents. He has a way of getting his point across so that children do not feel bad, but instead feel as if their teacher is just trying to help them. He will drop everything to do anything for students, staff and parents, and he will make you feel like you are the most important person in doing so. Furthermore, Mr. Stewart is a never-ending advocate for students. In every situation, Mr. Stewart will always listen to the other side and consider it. Lastly, Mr. Stewart is a well-respected leader in both the building and the District.”

Recipients are selected by their principals and superintendents for their belief that all students can and want to learn; for their desire to make a significant difference in students’ lives; for their commitment to professional development; and for their outstanding classroom skills and leadership. Congratulations, Dave!
