The Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) selected two GHS groups to perform at the state conference Feb. 8-10, 2018. Congratulations to the Chamber Orchestra and the Blue Dukes Jazz Band, and the directors!
More than 125 ensembles submitted recordings for the blind audition process. Both directors said they were thrilled with this honor.
“This band is full of hard-working students and I am thrilled they are getting recognized with this wonderful performance opportunity,” Band Director Jerod Smith said. “Thank you so much to the students for their hard work, and to the parents for their support and enthusiasm!”
Orchestra Director Samantha Schnabel said, “We have been working toward this level of performance for years. I am humbled and extremely proud of our talented students. Thank you, parents, for your support and encouragement – the type of dedication it takes for young musicians to excel at this level truly begins at home.”
The groups will be notified later this year about which day they will perform.
