Granville Middle School students competed in the third annual Licking County Middle School Envirothon on May 14. The Envirothon is designed to stimulate, reinforce, and enhance interest in the environment and natural resources among students. The Envirothon tests students' knowledge of soils, forestry, wildlife, aquatic ecology and current environmental issues. In addition, the Envirothon encourages cooperative decision-making and team building.
The Granville Middle School Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) received four gold medals, two top gold medals and a silver medal. Based on their outstanding scores, all three students earned an invitation to the National FCCLA Conference in Orlando, FL on July 7-12.
At the beginning of their 2011-12 concert season the Heisey Wind Ensemble announced plans to “give back" to local school music programs by donating $500 in cash awards. At each of the band’s four concerts and the single concert of the Heisey Wind Ensemble Big Band a ticket would be drawn from the students in attendance and a $100 donation would be made to the band, choir or orchestra of the selected student.
